The Central Texas Affiliate is in the approval process of their 2011 Community Profile and currently has their 2009 Community Profile for view. This document outlines the state of breast cancer in the six county service area and gives a snapshot of gaps and needs that exist in the community the Affiliate serves. The Executive Summary represents the critical points of this document and will give you a basic overview of the gaps in service, current service providers, and plans to address these gaps. It also includes indicators of areas that need attention to reduce mortality and change behaviors in the women we serve. If you have any questions about this information or would like to have more specific information from the Community Profile, please contact Destiny DeLillo by email destiny@komencentraltexas.org or by phone (254) 753-3037.
The Central Texas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 2000 to spread the life-saving message of early detection and to support breast cancer screening and education programs in Central Texas. The Affiliate covers six counties including Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, McLennan, and Milam county. These sixcounties make up an area of 4284 square miles and encompasses a population of slightly more than 1.5M residents.
Every two years a Community Profile is completed in order to gather and organize information to create a snapshot of the state of breast health and breast health services in the Affiliate service area. This report is intended to serve as a roadmap to the services currently funded and gaps in those services for the six county service area. It is also intended to outline program plans on how the Affiliate will seek to meet the needs of the identified groups which should lead to change in behavior and reduced breast cancer mortality.
